Who it suits

Teams already on Microsoft 365 can start with Copilot Chat included in their subscription and look at the add-on for in-app features. Who may prefer another assistant. Teams that work mainly outside Microsoft apps can compare other chatbots, since the main value of the add-on listed by Microsoft is its link to Microsoft 365 data.

How business data is handled

Microsoft Learn states that prompts, responses and data accessed through Microsoft Graph are not used to train foundation models, and that Copilot only surfaces organisational data the individual user has at least view permission to. Stored interaction history is encrypted and admins can set retention. Models from Anthropic and OpenAI can act as subprocessors, and admins can decide whether to use them. Admin controls cover web search, image generation and agents.

Under the Data Privacy Act (Republic Act No. 10173), a business remains accountable for personal data it processes through a service provider (Section 21). Review permission settings in SharePoint before enabling Copilot, since it respects existing access.

Copilot and Power Automate

Microsoft’s Power Automate pricing page lists Copilot Studio beside Power Automate’s own plans, which are Premium at $15 per user a month and Process at $150 per bot a month, paid yearly. Both are Microsoft products. This page does not describe how they connect. See Zapier alternatives for Power Automate next to other tools.
