Short answer

UiPath is a software company whose platform builds, runs and manages automations, including robotic process automation (RPA) bots that operate other programs. Studio is where automations are built, robots run them, and Orchestrator coordinates the robots. UiPath’s pricing page lists a free Community plan and a Basic plan starting at $25 a month, with larger plans priced by quote. The page shows a dollar sign without naming the currency.

What UiPath is

UiPath calls its product “The UiPath Platform” and pitches it as a way to combine task automation and end-to-end process transformation in one place, with governance built in. Its core business is robotic process automation: software that operates other programs through their screens, copying the clicks and keystrokes a person would use. RPA suits older systems that have no API. The platform has since added tools for AI agents, which UiPath describes as “agentic automation”. The RPA versus AI automation guide explains how the two approaches differ and combine.

Studio, robots and Orchestrator

These are the three parts people search for, in plain terms.

Studio. UiPath’s documentation calls Studio “the central development environment for building automations”. Developers and business users build workflows in it, with drag-and-drop activities for low-code work or code written in C#. Finished workflows are published to Orchestrator and run by the robot. Searches for “UiPath Studio” are about this tool. UiPath also has a browser-based tool, Studio Web, which its documentation says “enables you to build and test cross-platform automations across online business apps and services.”

Robots. A robot is the software that runs an automation. An attended robot works alongside a person on their computer. An unattended robot runs without one, on a schedule or on a trigger. UiPath’s documentation links these modes to how Orchestrator delivers and starts work.

Orchestrator. UiPath’s Orchestrator documentation describes a web application that coordinates the robots running repetitive business processes and manages the resources an automation project uses, including who may access them. For attended automation, it delivers the right package versions to the robots. For unattended automation, it can start a run at once or on a schedule. Searches for “UiPath Orchestrator” are about this layer. This site did not read the current overview page directly; the description comes from UiPath’s documentation index read on 12 Oct 2026, so check the latest version at docs.uipath.com.

Plans and licensing as UiPath lists them

UiPath’s pricing page, read on 12 Oct 2026, lists these plans for Automation Cloud:

PlanPrice as listedWhat the page says it includes
Community“Free forever”Building, orchestration and community forum help
Basic“Starting at $25 per month” (billed monthly)Personal automations with limited scale, European hosting, 99.9% uptime, Bronze Support. The page notes “Basic is evolving”, with an updated offering coming soon
StandardContact salesEnterprise automations, agents, document extraction, enhanced governance, no scale limits. A 60-day free trial is offered
EnterpriseContact salesEverything in Standard plus self-healing UI automation, process simulation, bring-your-own model, encryption keys and credential vaults

Swipe the table sideways to see all columns.

The page shows “$” without naming a currency, so this page gives no peso conversion for the Basic plan. UiPath also lists a Test Cloud product with add-on prices, and user and robot licence types, such as Unattended Robot, without prices. For a budget, ask UiPath or a partner for a quote that states the currency, the number of robots and the support level, and add the cost of the machines the robots run on.

Who uses it in the Philippines

UiPath published a press release dated 11 September 2026, carried by Business Wire, about PLDT, the Philippine telecommunications company. It states that PLDT scaled service delivery using the UiPath Platform and names three internal tools. The release reports an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 hours of manual effort saved each year for a knowledge retrieval tool, 25 to 35 percent less manual effort for an internal assistant, and a 97 to 99 percent reduction in manual effort for a risk review tool. These are vendor-published estimates that this site has not verified. They show how a large Philippine company describes its use, not what a smaller business should expect.

For the BPO and shared-services picture and where RPA fits next to AI, see the BPO sector page. No list of UiPath’s Philippine customers was found on the vendor pages read, so none is given here.

How it relates to AI automation

RPA follows fixed steps on screens. AI automation adds a model that reads messy input, such as free text or a scanned document, and decides what to do. UiPath sells both: its pricing page mentions document extraction and agents. A common pattern is an AI step that reads a document and an RPA step that keys the result into an older system. The AI automation guide explains the stages a workflow follows and why a person should review uncertain results.

Limits and alternatives

  • Screens change. An RPA bot depends on what is on the screen, so a software update can break it. Plan for maintenance.
  • Prices need a quote at scale. Standard and Enterprise are not priced on the page.
  • Plan changes. The Basic plan is marked as evolving; check the page before you budget.
  • Alternatives. Power Automate offers desktop flows inside the Microsoft ecosystem, with prices on Microsoft’s page. Automation Anywhere describes RPA as “software that automates digital tasks”, as the RPA guide cites. For API-based workflows, see n8n.
