What is Zapier and what is it used for?
Short answer
Zapier is a no-code service that connects apps so that an event in one app (a trigger) causes steps in others (actions). Its pricing page lists a Free plan with 100 tasks a month and paid plans from US$19.99 a month on annual billing, about PHP 1,256. Billing is by task, and the vendor states that it connects more than 9,000 apps.

How Zapier works
Zapier’s help center uses four terms.
- Trigger. The event that starts a Zap. The help center states that “Zap triggers never use tasks”, and that checking for new data (polling) does not use tasks either.
- Action. A step that does something in an app. A task is, in Zapier’s words, “any successful action that runs in Zapier.”
- Zap. The saved chain of one trigger and its actions.
- Task. The unit that plans are measured in. Filter steps, Paths steps and steps that error or halt do not count. Steps from Formatter, Delay, Looping and Storage do not count either.
The pricing page lists how many tasks each plan includes. A Zap with a trigger and two successful actions uses 2 tasks per run, which is Zapier’s own Gmail, Dropbox and Slack example.
What people use it for
These are examples of the kind of work Zapier is built for. They illustrate the trigger and action model. They are not results anyone measured.
- A new form entry adds a contact to a spreadsheet and posts an alert in a team chat.
- A paid order adds a row to a sheet and sends the customer a confirmation email.
- A calendar booking creates a task and a reminder.
- A message from a customer channel is summarised by an AI step before it reaches the team.
- A webhook from a custom system starts a multi-step Zap. Zapier’s pricing page shows that webhooks are not part of the Free plan.

AI by Zapier is metered differently from ordinary steps. The help center says its task use depends on the model tier selected.
Who it suits
Zapier fits people who want to connect common apps through forms and menus and want the vendor to run everything. The task-based bill rises with every action step, so it suits low to moderate volumes. Using Zapier from the Philippines
- Billing currency. Zapier prices in US dollars and bills in 19 local currencies, converted when you pay. The pricing page does not say which 19 currencies those are, so whether Philippine pesos are one of them is not confirmed. The checkout shows the amount your card is charged.
- Local apps. Coverage was checked only for ManyChat, which Zapier lists with 19 operations, including the triggers New Subscriber and New Tagged User and the action Send Text Message. No Zapier page for Viber was found at zapier.com/apps/viber/integrations on 12 Oct 2026. Other Philippine apps were not checked, so look each one up in the Zapier app directory before planning around it.
- Support. The pricing page lists email and live chat support as not included on Free, and live chat on Pro only at the 2,000-task tiers and above.
What it costs
Free is $0 with 100 tasks a month. On annual billing, the 750-task Professional tier is US$19.99 a month, about PHP 1,256. Every tier, a formula for estimating a task count and the cost at higher volumes are on the Zapier pricing in PHP page.
Limits to know
- The Free plan has two-step Zaps only, with 15-minute polling, and does not include webhooks, premium apps, Filters and Paths, Formatter or AI by Zapier.
- Usage is metered by task. With pay-per-task turned on, extra tasks are billed above the plan rate, and usage pauses at three times the subscription until the next cycle. With it off, usage stops at the limit.
- Zapier is a hosted service. A self-hosted edition is not listed on the pricing page.
