What Gemini is
Searchers still use older names for it. Google renamed Bard to Gemini on 8 February 2024, so “Bard AI” and “Google AI chat” now point to the same product family. The name covers three things a business meets in different places:
- The Gemini app and website. A chat assistant tied to a Google Account.
- Gemini inside Google products. Google lists it in Gmail, Docs, Vids and, on business plans, Meet and Sheets.
- The Gemini API. Developers and workflow tools send text to Gemini models and use the reply. Google AI Studio is the entry point.
The sections below follow the same three routes.
Plans and prices in pesos
Google’s subscription page, read with the Philippines selected, lists these plans. All are billed monthly, and the page says “Cancel anytime. No refunds for partial billing periods, except as required by applicable law.”
| Plan | Price per month | What Google lists |
|---|---|---|
| Free | PHP 0 | Image generation and editing, Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas, Gems. 15 GB storage across Gmail, Drive and Photos |
| Google AI Plus | PHP 285 | 2x the usage of Free. Video generation. Gemini in Gmail and Vids. 400 GB storage |
| Google AI Pro | PHP 1,100 | 4x the usage of Free. Video generation. Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Vids. 5 TB storage. YouTube Premium Lite |
| Google AI Ultra | From PHP 5,999 | 5x the usage of Pro at PHP 5,999, or 20x at PHP 11,900. Highest limits. From 20 TB storage |

Three points from the same page:
- Paid AI plans and Gemini in Gmail and Docs are for people aged 18 and over.
- Usage limits in the Gemini app “refresh every 5 hours until you reach your weekly limit.”
- The page gives country counts of more than 160 for Plus and more than 150 for Pro and Ultra, and does not name the Philippines in a list. The peso prices appeared when the Philippines was selected.
Which route suits which team
A single owner or freelancer. The consumer plans above. Start on Free and move up only if the limits get in the way.
A team already on Google Workspace. Gemini comes with Workspace plans, at a depth that depends on the plan. See Google Workspace for business for the plan table.
A team that wants an assistant connected to many company tools. Google lists Gemini Enterprise Business from US$21 a seat a month (about PHP 1,319), for up to 300 seats, with connectors to Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and other tools and a no-code workflow builder. The Standard and Plus editions start at US$30 a seat a month (about PHP 1,885) with unlimited seats. Both are listed in dollars, so the peso cost moves with the exchange rate.
Developers and workflow builders. The Gemini API. See AI API pricing in the Philippines.
What a Philippine business can use it for
These are common categories of work for a general assistant. They are examples of the kind of task, not measured results. Review every output before it reaches a customer.
- Drafting. First drafts of replies to customer questions, posts and product descriptions from information you supply.
- Summaries. Long documents, email threads and meeting notes. Google lists thread summaries in Gmail and note-taking in Meet on its Workspace plans.
- Sheets help. Google describes Gemini in Sheets as able to build spreadsheets and fill tables from a plain-language request. Check the figures yourself.
- Research. Deep Research is listed on the Free plan. Verify any claim that matters against its source.
- Filipino and Taglish text. Not tested on this site. Have a fluent reader check translations and tone.
Privacy and data
The rules differ by route, and so does the answer to “is it safe to paste this?”
The Gemini app. Google’s Gemini Apps Privacy Hub says that with Keep Activity on, chats are saved and used to improve its services, including AI models. With Keep Activity off, future chats are not used to train its AI models unless you send feedback, and Google still stores them for 72 hours. A subset of chats is read by human reviewers, disconnected from the account first, and reviewed chats are kept for up to three years. Activity is deleted automatically after 18 months by default.
Workspace and Gemini Enterprise. Google’s Workspace AI page states: “Your data is your data, and it’s not used to train Gemini models or for ads targeting.” The Gemini Enterprise listing says data is not used to train Google models or models for any other customer.
The Data Privacy Act. Republic Act No. 10173 asks a business to process personal information under transparency, legitimate purpose and proportionality (Section 11), on a lawful basis such as consent (Section 12), with reasonable security measures (Section 20). A business also stays accountable for data it hands to another party (Section 21). Keep customer personal data out of personal Google accounts. This is not legal advice, so ask your data protection officer or a lawyer how the duties apply to you.
Gemini inside automations
Workflow tools such as n8n and Zapier can send text to a model through an API and use the reply in a later step. The model provider bills each call, not the workflow tool.
Google’s API page, marked “Last updated 2026-10-09 UTC”, lists Gemini 2.5 Flash at US$0.30 per 1 million input tokens (about PHP 19) and US$2.50 per 1 million output tokens (about PHP 157), with a free tier for most models and a 50 percent Batch discount. A token is a small piece of text. Model names and prices change often, so read the live page for the model you pick. The pillar guide explains where an AI step sits in a workflow, and workflow automation for small business covers the planning.
