What is ERP? Systems used by Philippine businesses
Short answer
ERP (enterprise resource planning) is business management software that integrates core processes such as finance, supply chain, manufacturing, human resources and procurement in one system. Philippine businesses commonly look at NetSuite, SAP Business One, Odoo, ERPNext and Dynamics 365 Business Central. Automation tools such as n8n and Zapier connect to an ERP through its API or webhooks, so the ERP stays the record and the workflow carries data to other apps.

What an ERP does
Microsoft’s ERP explainer defines ERP as business management software that helps organisations integrate core processes, and lists finance, supply chain, manufacturing, human resources, procurement and project management among the functions. SAP describes its Business One product, built for small and midsize businesses, as covering accounting and financials, purchasing, inventory, sales, customer relationships, reporting and analytics in one system.
The practical meaning for a Philippine business: an order, an invoice, a stock movement and a payment are entries in the same database rather than four files that someone reconciles by hand. That is also why an ERP is a common source and destination for automation. Whatever happens in the ERP can start a workflow, and a workflow can write back to it.
The name “ERP” covers a range from a small-business accounting and inventory package to a global enterprise suite. Choosing among them is mostly a question of company size, the processes you need (manufacturing, distribution, services), who will maintain it, and whether you want a vendor-hosted or self-hosted setup.
Systems Philippine businesses compare
This page lists systems and what their own pages say. It is a selection list, not a ranking, and no hands-on test was run. Whether a vendor has a local partner or a Philippine tax and compliance setup (BIR forms, for example) is not something these pages confirmed, so ask each vendor or partner directly.
| System | What the vendor page says | Deployment | Price shown by the vendor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oracle NetSuite | Oracle’s pages blocked this site’s reader on 12 Oct 2026, so no vendor statement is quoted | Not confirmed from a vendor page | Not read |
| SAP Business One | An ERP system for small and midsize businesses covering accounting, purchasing, inventory, sales, CRM, reporting and analytics | “Cloud or on-premise deployment options” | None listed; pricing by quote request |
| Odoo | “A suite of open source business apps” | Odoo Online, or Odoo Enterprise self-hosted or on Odoo.sh (Odoo.sh costs extra) | US dollars per user per month (see below) |
| ERPNext | “100% open-source” ERP covering accounting, sales, procurement, stock, manufacturing, projects, POS, HR and payroll | Frappe Cloud is recommended; partners or self-implementation also listed | No per-user fee; costs are compute-based |
| Dynamics 365 Business Central | A cloud-based ERP platform connecting finance, sales, service and operations, for small and midsize businesses | Cloud | Essentials $80 and Premium $110 per user a month billed yearly; currency not named |

Oracle NetSuite
NetSuite is Oracle’s ERP product line. Oracle’s and NetSuite’s own pages returned an access block (HTTP 403) on 12 Oct 2026, so this page does not quote a feature list, deployment statement, customer count or price for it. Check netsuite.com directly. NetSuite is usually sold through a sales conversation, which is also why a “NetSuite price in pesos” figure is not given here.
SAP Business One
SAP’s page states there is no minimum company size and cites more than 85,000 customers in wholesale distribution, light manufacturing, retail and professional services. It lists cloud or on-premise deployment. It shows no prices and directs buyers to request a quote. This page covers Business One only, not SAP’s larger suites.
Odoo
Odoo’s pricing page lists US dollar prices per user per month: Standard at US$8.95 with a regular price of US$11.20 (about PHP 562 and PHP 704), and Custom at US$16.40 with a regular price of US$20.40 (about PHP 1,030 and PHP 1,282). The page says the discount applies for 12 months to initial users, that the standard plan is hosted on Odoo Online, and that the Custom plan can be hosted on Odoo Online or self-hosted. It also states that external API access is limited to Custom plans, which matters for automation (see below). Peso figures use the rate of 9 Oct 2026 and are approximate.
ERPNext
ERPNext’s page calls itself free and open source, with no per-user fee and costs based on hosting capacity. It recommends hosting on Frappe Cloud and lists certified implementation partners. The page shows tier figures of $14, $50, $100 and $108 without making clear what each covers or naming the currency, so no peso conversion is given. Read frappe.io/erpnext for the current tiers.
Dynamics 365 Business Central
Microsoft’s page lists Essentials at $80 and Premium at $110 per user per month billed yearly, and Team Members at $8. It shows a “$” sign without naming a currency, so this page gives no peso conversion. Microsoft says the product connects to Microsoft 365 apps, Power Platform (including Power Automate) and Power BI, and sells through its partner network.
Where automation connects
An ERP rarely sits alone. The common connection points are:
- An API. ERPNext’s documentation says its Frappe Framework includes a REST API, and the product page describes ERPNext as “API-first”. Odoo documents an external API over XML-RPC, restricted to Custom plans on Odoo Online. Business Central connects to other systems through an open architecture and Power Automate. SAP’s Business One page does not describe a general API, so ask your SAP partner what integration layer your version offers.
- Webhooks. A webhook lets the ERP push an event, such as a confirmed order, to a workflow. See the webhook glossary entry. Support differs by product, so check the vendor’s documentation.
- An automation tool. n8n and Zapier read from and write to systems that have an API. Both are covered in n8n vs Zapier. Whether a ready-made connector exists for your ERP varies, and n8n’s HTTP Request node can call an API directly.
Typical workflow shapes are examples of a pattern, not tested results: a new sales order creates a row in a sheet and a message to the warehouse; a paid invoice updates a CRM record; a low-stock event creates a purchase request for approval by a person. The pillar guide explains the stages behind such workflows, and workflow automation for small business starts from simpler cases.
An AI step can sit between the trigger and the write-back, for example classifying an incoming email before it creates a record. Keep a person approving anything that changes financial records.
ERP and CRM are different tools
A CRM such as Zoho CRM or Salesforce focuses on leads, contacts and sales pipelines. An ERP focuses on operations and finance. Several vendors sell both, and the two often exchange data through exactly the automations above.
