Short answer

As of 12 Oct 2026, published chatbot plans run from a free plan to US$18 a month on Chatfuel Business (about PHP 1,131) and US$150 a month on Botpress Plus on annual billing (about PHP 9,423). AI usage, message fees, setup and upkeep come on top. Whether it is worth it comes down to one monthly sum, gains from won sales and saved staff hours minus total cost, and this guide shows it with a labelled example.

Owners often ask two things: what it costs, and whether it pays back. This guide answers both with published prices and a calculation you can run with your own numbers. It covers the five parts of the bill, tool prices in pesos, what an in-house hire costs at the NCR minimum wage, and when to wait.

The five parts of the bill

A subscription is one line. Most automations have five.

What an AI chatbot costs per month

The question behind “AI chatbot cost” and “chatbot pricing” is usually a Messenger or website bot. Two platforms publish enough to show the shape.

Chatfuel pricing. Business is US$18 a month billed yearly (US$216 a year, about PHP 13,569) and lists US$20 a month in AI credits. Agency S is US$90 a month billed yearly (about PHP 5,654), lists US$100 a month in AI credits and covers 3 companies. Every plan starts with a free trial. Usage limits sit on a separate page that this guide did not read, so check them against your message volume.

Botpress pricing. Plans are priced by conversations.

Botpress shows an annual option that saves 20 percent and no monthly price. It also states that each conversation includes US$0.10 of AI usage, covered by Botpress.

For a chatbot built and run for you, Brainnex Digital Marketing’s sister service AI Automation Services quotes by scope.

Message fees: WhatsApp, Viber and SMS

Messaging cost depends on the channel, not on the chatbot tool.

  • WhatsApp. Meta charges per delivered message, not per conversation, since 1 July 2025. The rate depends on the message category and the recipient’s country calling code. Meta lists the Philippines (+63) under “Rest of Asia Pacific”, with no separate Philippine rate. Messages from customers to a business are not charged. Meta lists some business messages as free, such as those inside a free entry point window, so read its current rules before you budget. No peso figure is quoted here because Meta publishes rate cards as files. The WhatsApp bots guide explains the app and the Platform.
  • Viber. Viber’s developer page states: “since 5.02.24, Viber bots can only be created on commercial terms.” Ask Viber or one of its partners for a price. The platform comparison lists partners.
  • SMS. Semaphore, a Philippine provider, lists PHP 0.56 per text, excluding VAT. At that rate 1,000 texts cost PHP 560 before VAT. Twilio lists US$0.241 per segment for outbound SMS to Philippine mobile numbers (about PHP 15), and says carrier fees may apply. Sender ID rules are in the Twilio and SMS guide.
  • Messenger and Instagram. No per-message platform fee was found in the sources read for this guide, so none is quoted. The Messenger bot guide covers Meta’s rules.

AI usage fees

An AI model reads text and writes a reply. Providers bill that per token, a small piece of text, in US dollars per million tokens. Some chatbot plans fold this into a credit allowance, as Chatfuel and Botpress do above. Workflow tools such as n8n and Zapier charge for the workflow, and the model provider charges separately. The AI API pricing guide lists Gemini, OpenAI and Claude rates in pesos.

Setup and upkeep by a provider

Setup covers connecting channels, writing approved answers, testing and handover. Upkeep covers changing answers, fixing breaks and reading conversations. A provider prices both by scope, so this guide quotes no market rate. A custom CRM build is priced the same way, by scope, and no published figure for it was found.

Ask any provider for a written quote that lists:

  1. What is built, and on which channels.
  2. Which accounts and workflows you own at handover.
  3. What the monthly fee covers.
  4. Where customer data is stored and who can read it.

If you want a quote, AI Automation Services (the sister service of Brainnex Digital Marketing, which publishes this site) is at AI Automation Services. Its prices are by quote. You can compare any provider’s quote with the calculation below.

The in-house comparison: NCR minimum wage

Many owners compare automation with hiring a person. The official wage floor gives a fair baseline for that comparison.

The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) lists Wage Order No. NCR-28 as the current order for the National Capital Region, effective 26 September 2026. Section 2 of the order sets the daily minimum wage:

SectorDaily minimum wagePer hour (8 hours)
Non-agriculturePHP 755About PHP 94
Service and retail establishments with 15 workers or fewerPHP 718About PHP 90

Swipe the table sideways to see all columns.

Section 3 bases these rates on normal working hours of up to eight a day, so the hourly figures divide the daily rate by 8. On 22 days paid in a month, an example only, the non-agriculture rate comes to PHP 16,610 (PHP 755 times 22) and the small service and retail rate to PHP 15,796 (PHP 718 times 22).

Treat those as a floor, not a hiring budget. They leave out statutory benefits and contributions, and a skilled hire often earns more. Regions outside the NCR have their own orders on the NWPC site. The NWPC page also notes that Wage Order No. NCR-27 is subject to continuing litigation, so this guide uses NCR-28.

The comparison is not bot versus person. A person handles judgment, complaints and sales conversations. A bot answers the repeated questions at any hour. The useful question is how many staff hours the repeat work takes today. The calculation below puts that number to use. Philippine Statistics Authority occupational wage data was not used, since no figure was checked for this guide.

Worth it ba? A monthly calculation

“Worth it ba” has an answer once you write four numbers down. The pattern behind the benefits of AI automation applies: measure your own baseline, not another company’s.

Monthly gain = (extra sales won × profit per sale) + (staff hours saved × cost per staff hour)

Monthly cost = subscriptions + AI and message fees + upkeep + (setup fee ÷ months you plan to use it)

Worth it when monthly gain is greater than monthly cost.

Break-even sales = monthly cost ÷ profit per sale (after counting staff hours saved, if you count them)

Where to get each number:

VariableWhere to find it
Extra sales wonCount messages that went unanswered or got a late reply last month, and how many became sales when you did answer promptly. Take a share of the unanswered ones
Profit per saleYour own books, after the cost of the product or service
Staff hours savedA time log kept by the person who answers repeat questions
Cost per staff hourPay divided by hours, or the wage table above as a floor
Subscriptions, usage, message feesThe vendor pages linked above
Upkeep and setupA written quote

Worked illustration: a salon with a Messenger bot

This is an invented example with round numbers to show the arithmetic. It is not a client result and not a forecast.

LineExample figure
Profit per bookingPHP 500
Extra bookings won by replying at once10 a month
Staff hours saved on repeat questions30 a month
Cost per staff hourPHP 100
SubscriptionPHP 1,000 (a round figure; Chatfuel Business at its published US$18 converts to about PHP 1,131)
AI and message feesPHP 500
Upkeep by a providerPHP 2,000
Setup feePHP 30,000, spread over 12 months of use = PHP 2,500 a month
ResultCalculationExample figure
Monthly gain(10 × 500) + (30 × 100)PHP 8,000
Monthly cost1,000 + 500 + 2,000 + 2,500PHP 6,000
Net per month8,000 minus 6,000PHP 2,000

Swipe the table sideways to see all columns.

Now change one input. If the bot wins 4 extra bookings and not 10, the gain is (4 × 500) + 3,000 = PHP 5,000, below the PHP 6,000 cost. The break-even is 6 extra bookings (PHP 6,000 minus PHP 3,000 of staff time, divided by PHP 500). Without counting staff hours it is 12. The sums show which number matters most. In this example it is the number of bookings won.

If PHP 1,000 a month feels like a lot

Some owners hesitate even at around PHP 1,000 a month. The same formula shows what that subscription must earn. With a profit of PHP 500 a booking (an example figure), 2 extra bookings a month cover a PHP 1,000 subscription. Use your own profit per sale. If your number is PHP 200, you need 5. If you cannot say how many messages go unanswered, count them before you decide. That count is worth having whatever you choose.

If slow replies are costing bookings

Owners of salons, clinics, courts and shops often say they lose bookings when replies are slow. That makes a bot worth testing there. This guide does not quote a typical lift, because no sourced figure for Philippine businesses was found. Your own count of unanswered messages is the better evidence. The AI automation guide shows where a person should stay in the loop.

Start with Google Sheets

A spreadsheet is a legitimate first system. Google’s Sheets page says “Anyone with a Google Account can create in Sheets,” and lists conditional notifications that send an email when, for example, a new row is added. Google Workspace plans, if you want business email and admin controls, are on the Google Workspace guide. On the read of 12 October 2026 that guide reports, Starter was US$7 per user a month (about PHP 440).

A simple setup:

  1. One sheet with these columns: date, name, channel, question, status, owner, next step.
  2. A form or a shared link that adds a row for each enquiry.
  3. An alert when a row is added, and a rule that every row gets an owner.
  4. A weekly look at rows with no reply.

This costs little and gives you the numbers for the calculation above. Move up when the same data is typed into two places each day, when replies wait for a person to see the sheet, or when a second person edits at once and rows collide. The Excel automation guide covers the rungs between a sheet and a connected workflow, and the CRM comparison lists CRM plans. For a CRM connected to your lead sources, there is AI Automation Services, the same publisher’s service.

When to wait

Waiting is a sound decision when one of these is true. Each has a next step that makes the later start pay better.

  • You answer every message yourself and none go unanswered. The sheet is enough. Revisit when messages arrive faster than you can read them.
  • Your answers are not written down. Write the price list, hours, location and the ten most common questions first. Any bot or provider needs them.
  • Profit per sale is low and enquiries are few. Run the calculation. If break-even sales exceed what you get, grow enquiries first.
  • Nobody owns upkeep. Name one person who reads a sample of conversations each week.
  • Customer data handling is undecided. Settle the privacy points below first.

A business that waits with a sheet, a written FAQ and a count of unanswered messages is ready to buy well when the numbers change.

Data Privacy Act and AI tools

Customer names, phone numbers and messages are personal data. The Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) applies, and a business stays accountable for personal data it passes to a vendor. The National Privacy Commission issued NPC Advisory No. 2024-04 on 19 December 2024, on how the Act applies to AI systems that process personal data. This guide does not interpret it. Read it, or ask Philippine counsel, before you send customer data to an AI service. When you compare quotes, add a line for where data is stored and whether the vendor uses your messages to train its models. The AI automation guide lists the checks.

Frequently asked questions

How much does AI automation cost in the Philippines?

It depends on the parts. Published entry plans on 12 Oct 2026 range from free plans to US$18 a month on Chatfuel Business (about PHP 1,131) and US$150 on Botpress Plus (about PHP 9,423). AI usage, message fees, setup and upkeep add to that. Compare the monthly total with your gains.

Is AI automation worth it for a small business?

It is worth it when monthly gain is greater than monthly cost. Gain is extra sales won plus staff hours saved. Cost is subscriptions, AI and message fees, upkeep and setup spread over the months you use it. The worked example above uses round numbers to show the sum.

How much does an AI chatbot cost per month?

Chatfuel Business is US$18 a month billed yearly, about PHP 1,131. Botpress Plus is US$150 a month billed annually, about PHP 9,423, with 250 conversations. Message fees and setup are separate.

What is Chatfuel pricing?

Chatfuel lists Business at US$18 a month and Agency S at US$90 a month, both billed yearly, with every plan starting on a free trial. Usage limits are on a separate Chatfuel page.

What does it cost to run WhatsApp, Viber or SMS messages?

WhatsApp is charged per delivered message by Meta, with the Philippines in its Rest of Asia Pacific region. Viber bots need commercial terms from Viber or a partner. Semaphore lists PHP 0.56 per text before VAT.

Is a bot cheaper than hiring staff?

They do different work. The NCR non-agriculture minimum under Wage Order No. NCR-28 is PHP 755 a day, about PHP 94 an hour for 8 hours. A bot answers repeated questions at any hour, and staff handle judgment. Compare your hours of repeat work to the bot’s monthly cost.

Is Google Sheets enough instead of a CRM?

It is enough while one person can see every row and replies do not wait. Add an owner column and an alert on new rows. Move to a CRM when data is typed twice or rows collide.

How much does a custom CRM cost?

It is priced by scope, and no published figure was found. Ask for a written quote that states what is built, what you own and what the monthly fee covers.

When should I wait before buying automation?

Wait when no messages go unanswered, your answers are not written down, nobody will own upkeep, or the break-even sales are above what you get. Use a sheet and count unanswered messages meanwhile.
